Q: What is an audio tour?
A: An audio tour is a real-time walking guide that you listen to you on your favorite MP3 player (e.g.-ipod, iphone, zune, and most mobile devices). The tour highlights attractions of each borough of the city including historical facts, architectural features, famous crimes/haunts, and much more. The topics are so diverse that there is something of interest for everyone!
Q: Why select an audio tour?
A: Two reasons: it’s economical and convenient. Audio tours are the latest innovative approach to budget travel. At 1/3 the cost of a guided tour you can save your money for souvenirs (or more tours!). Audio tours also allow you to explore your favorite destination on YOUR time. No seasonal or time restrictions of guided tours here. Whether you’re visiting a locale for the first time or whether you are a long-time resident, we promise to provide an innovative perspective to your city.
Q: How do I order an audio tour?
A: You now have 2 ways to enjoy IWalked Audio Tours! iPhone applications are available via iTunes where you may enjoy GPS capability and photos of sites along with your audio. For non-iphone users we also offer MP3 downloads which may be used on any portable music device. For MP3 orders, select the ‘Order’ button for any tour(s) you wish to add to your shopping cart. When you are ready to check out, click on your shopping cart to input payment information. IWalked accepts most major credit cards via Paypal. Upon completion of the transaction, instructions on how to download your audio will be emailed to the address you provided.
Q: What do I do after I have placed the order?
A: Upload the MP3 file to your favorite media player. Please note that current iOS for mobile devices DO NOT allow direct download of files with MP3 extensions directly. If you wish to download the MP3 version of our tours via your mobile device you will require an app from iTunes or your favorite app store. These may be found be searching for “Download Manager” or “MP3 Downloader.” After uploading the file to your mobile device, head to the starting location of your tour (labeled on the optional downloadable map). Press play and enjoy!
Q. What if I’m afraid of getting lost?
A: Don’t be! Our tours provide step-by-step instructions of the path you will follow. In addition, we’re walking with you! Unlike other audio tours which add footsteps for effect, our guides are walking in unison with you and providing frequent markers to ensure you are “in step” with where you need to be.
